Harry Reid must be off his meds again, he’ back with this “Dream Act” delusions. This may be one of the dumbest bills ever proposed by the Democrats and that’s saying a lot. Why Obama, Reid and Pelosi want to reward criminal behaviour is the big question. I guess the Democrats are so hell bent on getting re-elected that there is no limit to the damage they are willing to reap on our country. This legislation is just another pathetic attempt to corner a voting block, hell the Democrats don’t even care if illegal alien criminals are allowed to vote, hell they fully support it. The public hands down is against this insanity but old cowboy poet Harry just keeps on trying. When most taxpayers are just scrapping by these days the thought of giving FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION to these illegals and anchor baby spawns is crazy. This kind of legislation just encourages more violations of our sovereign borders and rule of law. Instead of opening the flood gates the federal government should be sweeping our cities and deporting the millions of job stealing criminals who our here illegally. There are plenty of folks out there who are willing to legally emigrate and actually want to become flag waving American citizens.. With lunatics all over hell bent on killing Americans is it too much to ask who’s coming through the door?
Harry Reid: ‘We Need The People Of America To Rise Up’ in Favor of Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
Wednesday, May 11, 2011
By Eric Scheiner
(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is calling on Americans to ‘rise up’ and express how important the DREAM Act is to them.
Reid made the comments at a conference on Wednesday in support of the measure that would allow qualifying illegal aliens obtain legal residence status.
“As was said yesterday in El Paso by the president, we need the people of America to rise up and indicate to each of us how important this legislation is,” Reid said.
“I believe that the people in America need to understand that these young men and women who want to be educated, who want to be able to serve the military. It’s good for everybody.”
Senator Reid along with Senators Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) say the Senate will bring the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act to the floor for a vote. The measure previously failed to pass during the lame duck session of the last Congress when both chambers were under Democratic control.
The bill would allow qualifying illegal aliens to obtain legal residence status.
President Barack Obama addressed the previous failure of the DREAM Act and called for it’s future passage during his speech on immigration in El Paso, Texas yesterday.
Once again a family is mourning a son lost to political ambitions of the Washington elite. Obama, Pelosi and Reid are responsible for the chaos and mayhem along our southern borders. Like past administrations they have blood on there hands for choosing politics over national security and the safety of all Americans. The undermanned Border Patrol is completely overwhelmed by the murderous mexican drug lords and smugglers who prey on our southwestern border states. Nothing short of deploying up to 50-75 thousand U.S. military troops to the border will stop the invasion of hundreds thousands of criminals who violate or sovereignty ever year. Every single illegal alien who crosses our border illegally is spitting on our rule of law. These Washington elitist who choose to bootlick and pander to these illegals in the hope that they will gain votes are a disgrace. Our country is hemmorghing and Americans our tapped out, we cannot afford to just let this flood continue or we all win drown. There are dozens of reasons why we should take back our borders and none not too. These illegal alien criminals murder, rape and rob more Americans every year then Al Qaeda has done in its entire history. And now Obama,Pelosi and Reid are about to unleash the “Dream Act” amnesty on the American people. The Democrats thrive on rewarding bad behaviour but this bill just benefits cheaters and thieves. The country of Mexico is a warzone and no country on the planet but ours would leave there borders so exposed. How many Americans have to be murdered, raped, assaulted before Washington acts. This most recent murder of patriot serving his country lays squarely in Washington.
Teams comb Ariz. desert for suspect in agent death
Teams of border officers combed through the Arizona desert about 10 miles north of Mexico on Thursday in search of the lone outstanding suspect in the fatal shooting of a Border Patrol agent.
They were on horseback and all-terrain vehicles searching rugged, hard-to-reach spots in a mountainous area just north of Nogales in southeastern Arizona. Officers in patrol cars were searching the perimeter.
The suspect could be in Mexico, or could have tried his luck in Nogales or a nearby town, but he also could be hiding behind the next bush.
“Someone can hide out there very easily. There’s vegetation and they can blend in with the terrain,” Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada told The Associated Press on Thursday. “They have to continue trying and not give up until they feel there’s absolutely no chance they’ll catch him.”
The shooting Tuesday night came after agents spotted suspected bandits known for targeting illegal immigrants along a violent smuggling corridor, National Border Patrol Council President T.J. Bonner said.
Brian A. Terry, 40, was waiting with three other agents when the gun battle erupted. Terry died in the shooting. None of the other agents was injured.
Border Patrol spokesman Eric Cantu and FBI spokeswoman Brenda Lee Nath declined to confirm Bonner’s account but said that authorities have four suspects in custody and were searching for a fifth. The Border Patrol declined to reveal the country of origin of the suspects.
Cantu said Thursday he was unsure how long the search would go on if the suspect is not found.
“We’re going to extend every asset we have at our disposal,” he said. “There are many places a person can hide, especially if they have experience eluding law enforcement.”
The bandits target illegal immigrants in remote areas of the desert to rob, rape or otherwise take advantage of them. They often get away with it because their victims usually still want to try to make it to their destination.
“There’s a lot of things that happen in those valleys and canyons that don’t get reported for a lot of reasons: fear for one,” Estrada said. “They’ve come a long way, paid a big price and they’re not about to give that up.”
When reports of bandits do come it, it’s usually too late to find them, Estrada said.
The killing comes as federal and local officials say the border is safer than ever.
“It’s been safer, it’s more secure, but it’s not sealed,” Estrada said. “And it will never be sealed as long as you have the demand for drugs and people. We’ll continue to be busy for a very long time.”
As for whether there will be more killings, Estrada said “the threat is definitely there.”
“And I think everybody is mindful of that and aware of that,” he said. “It is a porous border because if you want to find a way to make it across, you can.”
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was expected to be in Arizona on Thursday and Friday to meet with Border Patrol agents in Nogales and Tucson, but had no scheduled events involving the public or members of the media.
The shooting occurred in the Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, the busiest gateway for illegal immigrants into the United States. Half of the marijuana seizures along the 1,969-mile southern border are made in the sector, which covers 262 miles of the boundary.
Terry, who is from the Detroit area, was unmarried and didn’t have children; he’s survived by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
The DREAM Act or NIGHTMARE ACT would offer an amnesty to illegal aliens who serve in the military or attend college, but would also open the door to massive legal immigration through Chain Migration and entice future illegal immigration because it’s an open-ended amnesty. Furthermore, the bill contains no border security measures or additional interior enforcement measure that would help curb illegal immigration. Its bewildering just how much contempt Obama,Pelosi and Reid have for this country. After being thrown out on there asses by a pissed off American electorate they still insist on bringing forward legislation that further erodes the country. This Amnesty rewards criminals who blatantly violate our countries borders and laws with complete disregard. Furthermore with a unemployment rates hovering well above 10% in many parts of the country these illegals drive down already stagnant wages and poison the dwindling job pool. These illegals also murder, rape and rob more Americans every year then Al-Qaeda. The cost to the middle-class is staggering all public services are affected by this onslaught of humanity. Our schools suffer, our hospitals suffer and our public safety agencies are stressed to the breaking point. All this equates to a lower standard of living for Americans who already foot the bill for hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants who choose to come here legally . One look at the carnage and corruption south of our border gives one a look at our future if Obama,Pelosi and Reid are left to there destruction of the dwindling middle-class.
Pelosi wants DREAM Act vote
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to push for a vote during the lame-duck session on a bill that would legalize young, undocumented immigrants if they attend college or serve in the military, according to Democratic sources familiar with a leadership conference call Wednesday.
A vote on the bill, known as the DREAM Act, could come as early as next week, the sources said. Pelosi asked Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) and Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) to assess the mood of the caucus, according to one source.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had previously announced that he plans to bring up the DREAM Act during the lame duck session. His spokesman said Wednesday that Reid still hopes to call a vote.
The move by Democratic leaders to put immigration back on the legislative calendar will win support from Latinos, whose strong turnout numbers in the West last week were credited with helping the party hold on to control of the Senate. Immigration advocates have pressed Democrats to move on the DREAM Act as a “down-payment” on their promise to push for a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the future.
But Democrats also risk appearing out of sync with voters, who sent a message during the midterm election that they want lawmakers to focus on job creation.
The DREAM Act provides a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants if they were in the United States before age 16, and if they have been residents for five years before enactment of the law. They would need to attend college for two years or join the military.
The bill has attracted Republican support in the past. But partisan lines have hardened in recent years, and Republicans, including some who were co-sponsors at one point, haven’t been willing to go to bat for the bill.
Democrat Harry Reids latest scumbag tactic to undermine America is attaching the disastrous “Dream Act” amnesty bill to the Defense Authorization Bill. This kind of politics is why the Democrats and open border Republicans need to go in November. This bill will give Amnesty and free education to Illegal Alien criminals while denying educational opportunities to American kids. This is just another piece of payback legislation by Obama and his fellow Democrats to reward supporters even if they are criminals. This Administration that made so many promises of more transparency and ethical government has turned out to be one of the most corrupt and sneaky administrations ever. The Chicago style thug politics and back room dirty deals are just the tip of the iceberg. The constant undermining of our nation is a constant goal of Obama, Pelosi and Reid, whether its Amnesty for criminal illegal aliens or redistribution of the middle-class dwindling wealth, Obama, Reid and Pelosi just have no depth to the level to which they will go to shove there agenda down the throat of the public
Harry Reid’s illegal alien student bailout
by Michelle Malkin
The so-called DREAM Act would create an official path to Democrat voter registration for an estimated 2 million, college-age illegal aliens. Look past the public relations-savvy stories of “undocumented” valedictorians left out in the cold. This is not about protecting “children.” It’s about preserving electoral power through cap-and-gown
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced this week that he’s attaching the DREAM Act to the defense authorization bill. With ethnic activists breathing down his neck and President Obama pushing to fulfill his campaign promise to Hispanics, Reid wants his queasy colleagues to vote on the legislation next week. Open-borders lawmakers have tried and failed to pass the DREAM ACT through regular channels for the last decade. That’s because informed voters know giving green cards to illegal alien students undermines the rule of law, creates more illegal immigration incentives, and grants preferential treatment to illegal alien students over law-abiding native and naturalized American students struggling to get an education in tough economic times. This bad idea is compounded by a companion proposal to recruit more illegal aliens into the military with the lure of citizenship (a fraud-ridden and reckless practice countenanced under the Bush administration).
DREAM Act lobbyists are spotlighting heart-wrenching stories of high-achieving teens brought to this country when they were toddlers. But instead of arguing for case-by-case dispensations, the protesters want blanket pardons. The broadly-drafted Senate bill would confer benefits on applicants up to age 35 and the House bill contains no age ceiling at all. The academic achievement requirements are minimal. Moreover, illegal aliens who didn’t arrive in the country until they turned 15 – after they laid down significant roots in their home country – would be eligible for DREAM Act benefits and eventual U.S. citizenship. And like past amnesty packages, the Democrat plan is devoid of any concrete eligibility and enforcement mechanisms to deter already-rampant immigration benefit fraud.
The DREAM Act sponsors have long fought to sabotage a clearly worded provision in the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) that states:
“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.” Ten states defied that federal law and offered DREAM Act-style tuition preference to illegal aliens: California, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Washington. The last time the DREAM Act champions tried to tack their scheme onto a larger
immigration proposal, they snuck in language that would absolve those ten states of their law-breaking by repealing the 1996 law retroactively–and also offering the special path to green cards and citizenship for illegal alien students.
Despite the obvious electoral advantage this plan would give Democrats, several pro-illegal alien amnesty Republicans crossed the aisle to support the DREAM Act, including double-talking Sens. John McCain, Richard Lugar, Bob Bennett, Sam Brownback, Norm Coleman, Susan Collins, Larry Craig, Chuck Hagel, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Mel Martinez, Olympia Snowe, and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (who champions even greater illegal alien student benefits than those proposed by Democrats). After paying lip service to securing the borders, McCain promised DREAM Act demonstrators this week that he supported the bill and would work to “resolve their issues.”
Out-of-touch pols might want to pay attention to the world outside their bubble. A recent Quinipiac University poll shows that Americans across the political spectrum favor tougher enforcement of existing immigration laws over rolling out the amnesty welcome wagon. When asked “Do you think immigration reform should primarily move in the direction of integrating illegal immigrants into American society or in the direction of stricter enforcement of laws against illegal immigration?”, solid majorities of registered Republicans, Democrats and independents chose stricter enforcement over greater integration of the illegal alien population.
Democrats outside the Beltway have grown increasingly averse to signing on to illegal alien incentives — especially as the Obama jobs death toll mounts and economic confidence plummets. Here in Colorado, a handful of Democrats joined Republican lawyers to kill a state-level DREAM Act amid massive higher ed budget cuts and a bipartisan voter backlash. Asked why she opposed the illegal alien student bailout, one Democrat lawmaker said quite simply: “I listened to my constituents.”
