Now matter how much they try nobody rationale believes the Obama’s administration’s statement’s on border security. Our borders are more open then ever and Obama is doing everthing in his power to keep it that way. The Obama administration has stopped building the fence, they have also restricted the movements of Border Patrol agents. The promised deployment of National Guard troops was delayed along with eventually providing less troops then promised and after that the troops are being sent home early. There is a full scale war going on in Mexico and Americans are dying on both sides of the border and Obama just doesn’t seem to care. Mexican narco-terrorist have killed more Americans this year then Al-Qaeda, Obama’s failure to protect our borders is a dereliction of duty. Obama is choosing politics over the safety of the American people all to garnber votes from the Latino block. And now with 18 months until the next election Obama is back on the campaign trail so we can expect nothing to get done. Obama is too much of a coward to make any major effort now to secure America’s border just so he doesn’t anger his leftist base. It’s a shame more Americans will probably die due to Obama’s lack of a spine.
Pentagon contradicts Napolitano’s border assessment
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s recent description of a U.S.-Mexico border that’s “as secure as it has ever been” appears to be in direct opposition to a Pentagon assessment.
For months the nation’s Homeland Security Secretary has repeatedly insisted that everything is safe and secure on the southwest border, even as violence escalates and overwhelmed federal agents are increasingly attacked by heavily armed drug smugglers. Just last month Napolitano declared that violence along the Mexican border is merely a mistaken “perception” because the area is safe and “open for business.” Furthermore, President Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary assured that “some of America’s safest communities are in the Southwest border region.”
During another speech, Napolitano accused critics of the Obama administration of exaggerating the problems on the U.S.-Mexican border.
“Our nation’s sovereignty is being violated and Americans killed by illegal aliens and all we get are photo opportunities with Obama administration officials and scoldings from the Mexican government officials including President Calderon,” said police officer Iris Veguilla, herself a Latino.
According to officials at Judicial Watch, a public-interest group that investigates public corruption and fraud, U.S. Defense Department officials believe the border is actually a gateway for Mexican criminal organizations that have infiltrated the entire country and joined forces with terrorist groups. A top Pentagon official contradicts Napolitano’s fairytale assessment, pointing out that Mexican criminal organizations extend well beyond the southwest border to cities across the country, including big ones like Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit.
Addressing a U.S. Senate hearing this week, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counter-narcotics and Global Threats William Wechsler warned lawmakers that all their constituencies are confronted by the threat of Mexican drug cartels.
Even more alarming is that once in the United States, the Mexican criminal groups are becoming more dangerous by forming networks with each other and insurgent or terrorist groups. In some regions the “threat networking” not only engages in drug trafficking but kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion, home invasions and other serious crimes.
The threat is so great that the assistant Defense secretary offered federal legislators military assistance in the name of protecting national security.
“Many of the global and regional terrorists who threaten interests of the United States finance their activities with proceeds from narcotics trafficking,” Wechsler reminded, adding that “extremist and international criminal networks frequently exploit local geographical, political or social conditions to establish safe havens from which they can operate with impunity.”
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), a staunch supporter of tough immigration enforcement, once again called on Napolitano to resign last week. Tancredo has led many congressional efforts to protect the borders against illegal immigration.
An incident that involved a gunfight in December between Border Patrol agents near Nogales, Ariz., and armed drug smugglers has been a sore point with Tancredo. One member of the U.S. Border Patrol, Brian Terry, was killed by automatic gunfire during a shoot-out that highlighted the fact that U.S. law enforcement officers are out-manned and out-gunned by Mexican criminals.
The Obama administration also claimed it increased the number of Border Patrol agents from about 10,000 in 2004 to more than 20,700 now. However, an examination of records reveals that the increase in border agents occurred during the Bush administration when the number of agents reached upwards of 18,000 in 2008.
Displaying a continuing disregard for American sovereignty and rule of law the
Obama administration is playing politics with the lives of Americans. The violent Mexican drug cartels have been conducting raids and assassinations in Arizona and neighboring states for months and the Obama administration are complicent in the deaths of dozens of Americans. It appears the Obama political agenda is willing to sacrifice American lives to garner hispanic voters. The recent shooting of Rep Gifford was given massive attention by the Obama administration and media but why not a peep when ranchers like Robert Krentz and Arizona law enforcement are gunned down by Mexican cartel thugs. I guess your life only counts if you are a Obama crony. The Homeland Security troll Janet Napolitana along with head of ICE John Morton are so derilick in carrying out there mission that they should be immediately fired or charged as co-conspirators in the murder of Americans living in this war zone. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife has already closed 3500 acres in southern Arizona parks while Arizona Universities are warning students to stay away from border towns due to the violence. You to wonder if Rep Gifford was shot while hiking by a cartel smuggler would the Obama’s administration actions been as forcefull.
The Pinal County, Ariz., sheriff says “Arizona has become a war zone and drug cartels are coming through like they own the place.”
Sheriff Paul Babeu spoke these words in the Ahwatukee foothills week, and he couldn’t have been more direct. The drug cartels are dancing with danger as armed conflict is inevitable as far as the sheriff is concerned, complaining, “The federal government has literally become an enemy who is fighting us, and I have not been afraid to fight them,” he said.
Sheriff Babeu is no friend of Janet Napolitano and took her to task as she tried to contend that the Arizona border is as safe as ever. This is the garbage this sheriff has to put up from a woman who seems unresponsive to the dangers of the southern border sectors. Evidently, last year in the eastern portion of Arizona’s two sectors, which includes Phoenix and Tucson, the U.S. Border Patrol caught 241,000 illegals coming across the border. However, it is also estimated that an additional 400,000 illegals crossed undetected. “Close to 20 percent of which already have criminal records in America.” the sheriff said. More importantly, a percentage of which are caught in Pinal County are from countries other than Mexico, including “countries of interest’ such as Yemen, Somalia and Syria. “Nations whose governments have sponsored terrorists or are anti-American,” the sheriff said.
It appears that Napolitano is acting recklessly with this sheriff by not giving her support and that’s probably attributed to some crazed gun control B.S. that will do nothing but put Americans in harm’s way. This is the kind of crap the U.S. government has been doing all along, just giving the American public a false sense of security. The leaders who put this Homeland Security B.S. together could care less about border security and need to re-think their priorities.
Less than 30 miles from where the sheriff was giving his speech to a Republican Ladies League, he explained the following: “Less than 30 miles from where we are now, they have 50 locations in Pinal County that are scout locations. They’re providing safe passage for drug and human smuggling coming through our county. They’re reinforcing their supply routes.”
One of the things that has angered the sheriff is an incident on Oct. 26, of last year, where an informant, working for the sheriff’s department, was killed in Pinal County by a cartel hit-man, shooting him a half dozen times. “A cartel hit, that’s what we have arrived at,” the sheriff said.
In another incident, the cartel had heavily-armed assassins come across into Pinal County to rob drug mules.
Currently, Homeland Security has this insanely incompetent “catch and release” program that is tying the hands of the sheriff by not enabling longer holding times as a deterrent to repeat offenders.
Homeland Security is doing nothing to secure the Arizona borders and it’s becoming such a problem that the local sheriff is now expected to secure America’s borders while the United States Government washes their hands.
Securing the borders is something the sheriff says he can do easily with just some badly needed help from the U.S. Government, but he’s being shunned for no good reason.
Mexico is being ruined by the cartels and now this garbage is coming into America. If Janet Napolitano cannot deal with this fact, then she should be replaced as fast as possible. There is war developing in Arizona from this incompetence and no help seems to be in sight.
No wonder Arizona has the most liberal gun laws in America, it’’ the Wild West down there and the enemy is from another country. Homeland Security is a joke, doing nothing to really protect Americans, only working to suppress us, turning this country upside down from damn fool incompetence, just more globalist B.S. endangering our people.
Just when we should be shutting down our borders Obama and his fellow Democrats are bending over to the Open Border crowd. The Democrats and country club Republicans like Dick Armey and Lindsey Graham want to legalize illegal aliens who our illegally here, don’t pay taxes, commit major crimes and drive down wages just to add voters to there socialist agenda. The border area along Mexico is already a war zone, the violence is spreading north and killing American. Corrupt Mexican military personal have crossed the border hundreds of times over the past decade to add the drug cartels in everthing from guarding shipments to carrying out hits. Obama, Pelosi and Reid apparently have no limits when it comes to carrying out there euro-left social attack on the American way of life. Mexican gangs are killing more American then Al-Qaeda every year while terrorizing large cities in every state while the federal government does little to protect American citizens. Any other country on the planet would be using military force to stop this terrorist like attack on there populace. When the Bush administration deployed Army National Guard Styrker units to the southern border, the areas they where deployed to saw major drops in Illegals and drug trafficking across the border. Even then the Regiment was severly limited in how they where allowed to carry out the mission. Every nationality on the earth is using our southern border to illegally enter the country. Massive piles of trash are evidence of the masses crossing the border, the landowners along the SW border states are under siege by these criminals. The Obama administration has done everything in its power to roll back the minor improvements the Bush administration implemented. The Border Patrol hiring has turned to layoffs while 16 thousand new IRS agents are being hired to plunder more income from taxpayers to hep pay for his new health care disaster.
Mexican drug gangs have expanded their activities in the U.S. with heroin production doubling in 2008, the U.S. Justice Department says in a report.
Despite U.S. funding for the war on drugs, trade in marijuana, ecstasy and methamphetamine also grew, the National Drug Threat Assessment said. The report found that Mexican groups were active in every region of the U.S. Gangs were moving an estimated $40 billion in cash back into Mexico across the border each year, it added.
Mexico has long been the main conduit for illicit drugs smuggled into the U.S., but this report suggests that the efforts to halt the flow on both sides of the border have had only a limited impact. In 2007 the U.S. pledged $1.4 billion over three years to fight the drugs cartels, but the following year heroin production in Mexico rose from 17 to 38 metric tons. This, the report says, led to lower heroin prices and more overdose deaths in the U.S.
The report found that Mexican heroin was poised to take a “more significant share” of the market in U.S. cities where South American heroin has traditionally dominated. For Asian heroin, the U.S. continued to be a secondary market, it said. The assessment says that Mexican drug suppliers have increased their cooperation with American street and prison gangs to expand their distribution networks. Speaking in Mexico City earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for more efforts to tackle the social issues such as poverty that fuel the drugs trade. Mexico, which has some 50,000 troops engaged against the cartels, has suggested that American money and equipment has not arrived quickly enough.
The Obama administration is continuing its campaign to drag the United States into a third world debt ridden socialist utopia. With the unemployment rate still spiking, government debt growing and border security vital as ever why does this idiot keep adding to the problem. We as a nation cannot afford to pay for the unskilled, uneducated masses pouring across our borders anymore. Just across the border 15,000 people have been killed in the growing cartel violence. We have Islamic jihadist trying to hatch the next 911, why is Obama doing even less then Bush to lock down the border. Just as troubling is the violence affecting every one of our cities coming from Mexican and other countries drug gangs. Is Obama and the (D) so hell bent on adding the 12-30 million illegals to there partys numbers that he is willing to throw the rest of us to the wolves?
Pres. Obama Proposes to Cut 180 Border Patrol Agents
Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 1:20 PM EST – posted on NumbersUSA
Pres. Barack Obama’s newly proposed 2011 budget would reduce the number of Border Patrol agents along the Southwest border by 180 and cut the funding for the “virtual fence.” Homeland Security said it plans to cut the jobs through attrition, and it would result in increased pay for the remaining agents.
White House senior officials say the move will not compromise the effectiveness of the border patrol. But House Judiciary Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) says otherwise.
The President’s budget proves once again that the Obama administration is not serious about enforcing our nation’s immigration laws.
The administration found money for 25 new positions in the Secretary of Homeland Security’s management office, but didn’t find funds for any of the following critical homeland security programs: there is no funding for a single new detention bed, no increase in funds to find and deport immigration fugitives or criminal aliens, no additional special agents to investigate workplace immigration violations, no funding to expand the visa security program, and no funding to build any more of the border fence.
The President ought to be using immigration enforcement to address key priorities such as jobs and national security. But instead of doing so, the Obama administration is maintaining the status quo. That means that citizens and legal immigrants will be forced to continue to compete with eight million illegal immigrants for jobs; and by underfunding key national security programs, we leave ourselves vulnerable to future terrorists attacks.
— Ranking Member Lamar Smith
The “virtual fence” would have funding cut by $226 million. The system is made up of cameras, radar and sensors placed on towers.
